First Christian Beliefs
Our Beliefs
Essentially, our faith is in God and in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. According to Scripture Jesus was miraculously born of a virgin and is the Son of God and Savior of all who are willing to repent and receive him.
We accept the Bible as God’s divinely inspired revelation and word.
Our Faith is grounded on those two affirmations and all we preach or practice rests upon those two eternal truths.
But we do not ask or demand unanimity of opinion or thought in all things. We encourage all to read and understand the Scriptures. We recognize our right to differ, but we still love and respect one another and serve and worship together.
Our Ordinances
In an effort to apply Scriptural teachings:
We practice baptism by immersion because we believe this to be the mode of Christ’s personal baptism and His command to all His followers. Baptism pictures our Lord's death, burial and resurrection and our faith in Him. Baptism symbolizes the spiritual events which happen in the life of the baptismal candidate; death to sin, the burial of the candidate’s former self and resurrection to walk in a newness of life.
We observe the Lord’s Supper each Sunday because we believe there is New Testament precedent for weekly communion. This spiritual feast is designed to keep our memories fresh regarding Him “Who Loved us and gave Himself for us."
